Applications

Where our felt ends up.

Felt is a quiet material — it rarely appears on a bill of materials by name. These are the five application areas our production is organised around, plus the technical work that does not fit neatly into any of them.

Felt pads and sealing parts cut for automotive assembly

01 · Automotive & transport

Quiet, sealed, and free of rattles.

Felt does three jobs in a vehicle: it absorbs sound, it seals against dust and draughts, and it stops two surfaces from buzzing against each other. All three depend on the same two variables — density and compressibility.

  • Bonnet and dash sound-insulation felt
  • Front-wall and bulkhead acoustic felt
  • Damping and sealing gaskets, plain or self-adhesive
  • Interior trim, boot lining and console padding
  • Anti-squeak and anti-rattle pads
Wool felt polishing disc for machinery and metal finishing

02 · Machinery, motors & instruments

Consumable, component, and clearance.

In machinery, felt is often a wear part: a polishing medium on one machine, a lubrication wick or dust seal on the next. Consistency matters more than any single property, because a part that behaves differently between batches shows up as scrap.

  • Polishing wheels, bobs and discs for finishing stations
  • Vibration damping and mounting pads
  • Dust seals, wipers and bearing protection
  • Lubrication wicks and oil-feed felt
  • Instrument and meter felt, gaskets and spacers
Pre-oxidized PAN felt sheet for high-temperature insulation

03 · New energy & high temperature

Where wool is not enough.

Batteries, high-temperature equipment and thermal runaway containment push felt past what wool can survive. Pre-oxidized PAN and carbon fibre felt do not melt and hold their structure under flame, which makes them the practical choice for barriers and insulation in these assemblies.

  • Battery pack thermal barriers and cell spacing
  • High-temperature equipment and furnace seals
  • Heat shields and flame barriers
  • Insulation for compact, weight-sensitive assemblies
  • Die-cut and laminated composites to drawing
Anti-slip dotted felt used for furniture and floor protection

04 · Hardware & consumer goods

Small parts, high volume, tight tolerance.

Self-adhesive felt pads are one of the highest-volume items we make, and one of the least forgiving: the adhesive has to hold for years, and the die-cut has to be clean at speed. We make the material and the finished good in the same plant, which is what keeps the two consistent.

  • Self-adhesive furniture and floor-protection pads
  • Anti-slip dotted felt for bases and trays
  • Craft felt, sheets and cut shapes
  • Felt pouches, organisers and packaging inserts
  • Private-label finished goods and retail packing
Felt sheet for oil absorption and filtration

05 · Oil treatment & filtration

Specified by what passes through.

Filter felt is chosen by flow rate, viscosity and what has to be caught — not by product name. Send the fluid and the duty and we will propose a grade, then sample it so you can test the actual performance rather than an estimate.

  • Filter elements and pre-filter media
  • Lubrication and oil-feed wicks
  • Oil mist and vapour capture
  • Absorbent felt for spill control and drip trays
  • Machine tool and gearbox filtration

Beyond the five

Technical applications, including aerospace work.

Our felt also goes into specialised fields where the material is a functional component rather than a commodity — aerospace supply chains among them. If the part has to seal, damp, absorb, insulate, filter or polish, it is in our range, even when the industry is not on this page.

Start with a sample

Send the part. We will send the felt.

Drawings, photos, old samples and rough specifications are all fine. Tell us the application and the conditions, and we will come back with a material recommendation and a price.
